This is China's most finest and most famous black tea, and it comes from Anhwei Province. It was one of the first teas developed by the Chinese for the export market and was England's breakfast tea until Indian tea became available. The brew is smooth and slightly sweet with a distinct aroma of orchids.
The quality can vary from season to season. At its best it is called the 'burgundy' of China teas. Rich, flowery aroma, full, thick infusion, strong taste, dark amber colour.
Excellent with lightly spiced foods and as a digestif. Drink without milk or sugar. A perfect evening tea.
