An Indian coffee, from the state of
Kerala on the central southern tip of India, renowned for "monsooning".
In the days of sailing ships the humidity during the six month voyage to
Europe caused the Mysore green beans to 'age' to a
pale golden yellow and acquire a special flavour. To recreate this coffee's
special flavour, the beans are harvested just before the
Mysore monsoon season, packed loose in
sacks and regularly turned to dry n the moist monsoon winds.
"Monsooning" reduces the normal Mysore bean acidity
and impacts a smooth, full, mellow flavour.
Monsoon Malabar is a world classic and is regarded as the best of the
"Monsooned" coffees.
Full bodied, low acidity, reminiscent of an 'aged' coffee. Exceptionally
good in espresso machines which reveals the coffees wonderful velvety,
rich smoothness.
